This month, we will be studying four verses that explore the subject of glorifying God. As a new school year gets underway, I pray that those of us who are students will study for the glory of God. I pray that those who are teaching students will teach for the glory of God. I pray that every believer will be a godly example to students in their lives of how to live with the purpose of glorifying God. Think of the fire that could be kindled if we all purposed to live to please God, and Him alone.
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
1 Corinthians 10:31
All
We can be tempted to fall into the trap of categorizing our daily tasks into “Christian” and “Normal” tasks. We read our Bible: Christian. We mop the floors: normal. We lead a Bible study: Christian. We do our homework: normal. You understand the process. However, in this week’s verse, the Apostle Paul challenges us to live a radical Christian life. He challenges us to do anything and all to the glory of God. Take the time while you’re mopping to pray for the family you’re serving. Treat your schoolwork as preparation for the life that God has prepared for you (because it is!). Do all to the glory of God.
Something to Consider
If you are doing something, and you cannot find a way to do it to the glory of God, then you should consider whether this is something you should be doing as Christian. Use your Bible as a guide. Its truth will shine a light on your life and show you areas where you are not glorifying God. Do not resent this, but rather, seize the opportunity to grow in your spiritual walk.
The Whatsoever
I don’t know what your schedule looks like today. You may go to school, you may homeschool, you may go to work, you may stay home. In our verse there is this word: “whatsoever”. Whatsoever means anything, from having a meal to texting a friend to teaching Sunday school to studying Algebra. You fill in the blank. What is your whatsoever today? Take that, and glorify God in it.
This week, let’s take some time for self-examination and see how we’re glorifying God in our everyday lives. Then let’s purpose to live in a radically God-glorifying way. Let’s live for the gospel’s sake.
In Christ,

Convicting. I love how you worded that and this challenge to examine my whatsoever in my life and glorify God in it. Thank you.
