My Daddy's Hands (Poem)

My daddy's hands held me up when I first began to walk.

His voice filled the room with praise when I first began to talk.

My daddy's hands opened the Bible and pointed to a verse,

His voice explaining how I was loved by the King of the Universe.

My daddy's hands guided mine when I learned to pluck the strings,

His voice joining in with mine as we began to sing.

My daddy's hands have built our house, a well-accomplished task.

His voice has answered all the many questions that I've asked.

My daddy's hands hold me close in a warm embrace.

His voice tells me of his love as he looks into my face.

I want to use my hands in love, just like my daddy does,

And I also want to use my voice to tell him of my love.

I love you, Daddy.
